with private tutors to offer parents diagnostic assessment and remediation services.
In situations where
a child is already working with a private tutor, the parents and/or the tutor may
be interested in gaining a better understanding of the nature and extent of the
child's learning difficulties and may want additional insight into the best way
to remediate the child's weaknesses. In these situations, private tutor partners
will typically refer a child's parents to KinderMinds. Dr. Smith will work
with the parents to determine if the child is a good candidate for an assessment
and to determine what type of assessment would be most appropriate. In situations
where she completes an assessment on a child referred by a private tutor, Dr. Smith
will work closely with the parents and the private tutor to implement an effective
remediation plan that incorporates the findings from her assessment.
In situations where
Dr. Smith has completed an assessment on the child who was not referred by a private
tutor and the child's parents have expressed interest in retaining the services
of a learning specialist to
help with remediation, Dr. Smith will often refer
the parents to a private tutor partner. The referrals are generally based
on several factors including the needs of the child, the expertise of the tutor
and the proximity of the tutoring facilities to the child's home.
