As a member of WHO (Washington Homeschool Organization), Dr. Smith is knowledgeable
about the homeschool community in this state, the variety of educational philosophies
to which families adhere, and educational
curriculum and instruction. For such
families, KinderMinds provides the following services:
1. Consulting:
It is not uncommon for some Home Educators to have a child who seems to learn
"differently" from his/her siblings, one who is struggling to acquire academic skills
despite creative teaching and good curricula.
Often, these parents are keenly aware of their child's struggles, but they
find it difficult to locate the needed professional resources.
Dr. Smith will meet with parents to discuss educational planning and instruction.
2. Assessment: When a child is struggling
to learn, a Learning Disability Assessment or Reading Assessment may be helpful
to pinpoint the nature of the child's challenges.
The recommendations will be specific to the homeschool educational program. For further information, please visit
the "Assessments" section.
3. Annual Academic Testing:
Washington State
home educators must document their child's academic progress yearly.
The KinderMinds Academic Achievement Assessment fulfills this requirement. For further information, please visit
the "Assessments" section.
